Lipids are large organic molecules best known for their influence on cardiovascular disease. They also play an important role in many other biological processes, such as the formation of the neuronal cell membrane and its lipid barrier. The role of lipids in psychological phenomena such as mood, aggression, cognition, and schizophrenia is much less well known, and is the subject of this column. |
